How I knew Direct Sales was for me.

About 7 years ago I was working at a tanning salon. Now this was just not any tanning salon where you would just put people in beds. This was THE TANNING SALON to tan at in our city. We were paid on commission - which I loved- so I was always up selling lotions, packages ect. I loved what I did. I was good at it. I had a blast at work. My co- workers loved me. My customers loved me and I would be excited to go to work. The only problem-  I wasn't living the life I dreamed. I wanted to be able to go on vacations. I wanted to be able to do what I wanted, when I wanted and how I wanted.

This was about the time that I was first approached about direct sales and how you can run a successful business. One of my tanning customers- who later became one of my best friends- Introduced me to her side business. She was working part time selling waxes for burners. I loved them- I bought them from her. She knew I was great at sales because I was always showing her why she needed that bigger tanning package and why this new lotion was the BEST. She gave me some information about the business and I read over it. But it just didn't feel right.  So I just brushed it off. All while still living paycheck to paycheck. Not seeing the BIG picture.

About 6 months later another one of my customers hired me as her assistant. She was in the event industry. I thought to myself- this is it! I am going to get out of the rut!!! I fell in love with this job. I was helping men and women plan their events. From weddings, graduation parties, corporate events and more. The list goes on and on. I loved it- but something was missing and I couldn't put my finger on it.

One of the many hats I wore in the event industry was doing Bridal Shows. I loved them! I love talking to people!  It was during this time that I found my first direct sales company. I was walking around the show meeting with vendors to tell them how we could help them at their next show that I found this little jewelry company.  It was the cutest jewelry ever!  Custom  lockets!  Super cute! I went back to my boss and showed her the business card and said " I'm going to sell this!"
That night I went home and started my researching. For about a week I just looked up videos and read blogs.  About a month after finding this company I finally signed up.  It took me a minute to sign up because I wanted to find a mentor that I could trust and that I could learn from. I mean after all- I had NO CLUE about direct sales and how you could maximize your income with out maximizing your time.  I knew no one who sold this company so my research I was doing for the past month was to find the best mentor possible- and I did!

For about a year and half I was with this company. At first things were great! I was booking parties left and right! My personal sales were great! I even started to build a team. But something changed. People stopped booking parties. Sales dropped. My extra 5 figure income a month started to dwindle. What was I doing wrong? So this is when I started doing some more research in direct sales. I found that when a product is CONSUMABLE those are the companies that prosper.  Now, please do not get me wrong- there are companies that sell non consumable items that are doing AMAZING! I cheer for you!  But it just wasn't for me.

And so my search began.  It was the fall of 2014. I actually remember the night to a T. I was starting to stress over bills. I knew that I was not born to work and just pay bills. I know some of you who are reading this are probably thinking or feeling the same way. I knew in my heart that direct sales was for me- I just needed to find the right company. This is the list of criteria that my new company had to have for me to join

1. Consumable Products
I wanted to find a company that had consumable products. What I mean is a company that sound items that people would buy month in and month out. Studies show that when a product is consumable ( food, drink, health & wellness, makeup , hair care) people will continually purchase from you no matter the economy. When the economy is down people are not purchasing new purses or jewelry. However- no matter what is going on in the economy people ( mostly women) will always purchase make up, shampoo, face wash and food. Think about it.

2. Compensation Plan
I wanted a company who had a great compensation that paid well. If I was planning on building a team I wanted to make sure that I was getting paid for the training I did. I wanted to make sure that I got paid  for all sales I made. I wanted to make sure that I was getting paid for what I put into the business.

3. Product
I am the type of person that if I love a product I will tell everyone about it. So the company that I was going to be with needed to be a product that I absolutely loved! After all, I need to be my best customer!

4. People
Not only do I need to love the product- but I needed to have people wanting and needing the product.

After looking at a few companies, trying samples and talking with others I decided that I was going to be starting my journey with Monat. Let me tell you this...

BEST DECISION EVER!!!!

I went from stressing over how I was going to pay my bills , praying my car wouldn't break down to finally living stress free. In my first year with Monat -  In my first 4 months of the business I was able to buy a BRAND NEW CAR. I am now debt FREE ( boy does that sound awesome to say!) I have earned 2 FREE trips to Vegas, a CRUISE to Bermuda next spring and a SHINY WHITE CADILLAC!!! OMG!!!! Plus I am helping my team do JUST THE SAME thing!!!!

I started my journey with a team of myself to now a team of over 3000 amazing men and women.  We no longer live paycheck to paycheck.  My team is crushing goals and are able to afford vacations, pay their bills, work from home and are working on their goals to retire from their 9-5.

Finding Monat made me realize that Direct Sales was for me.  Not only has Monat changed my financial situation- it has also helped my personal life and to remember to always DREAM BIG!  I have made the best of friends with this company who I know will always be there for me no matter what. It is amazing to watch my team grow and achieve their goals. My goals with my business is to keep helping others. It is my passion to see my team succeed. I want that for everyone. No one deserves to live paycheck to paycheck. Everyone deserves happiness.

If this is something that you are considering. Even for a split second then I would love to chat with you. Monat might not be the company for you. However- take the first step, because it might just be what you and your family need.
